Everyone likes to get behind the hero. Support him in whatever way they can. And cheer for him when he prevails against the odds.
Is what the movies show.
The reality is, they cheer when he falls. When he does not succeed.
Its reassuring to them. It makes him more human. It makes him more like them.
“How dare he try and be different” and “He thinks he’s better than us” is what they subconsciously think to themselves
But why would he want to be complacent like everybody else? Why should he not think he is better?
Anytime you try to rise above the group, there is always going to be people that try to pull you back down and bring you to their level in various capacities.
Similar to the crab mentality. When you place a group of crabs in a bucket. A crab climbing out of the bucket is pulled back down by the other crabs.
In human form it might be in the form of passive aggressiveness, blatant disrespect, or they might pretend to be your friend and talk behind your back. The people closest to you probably are your biggest haters.
They cheer when you fall.
